Watch Foo Fighters Full ‘Austin City Limits’ Show Set

Foo Fighters performed a nine-song set to help close out the 40th anniversary of PBS’ Austin City Limits show which aired February 7th. The band’s set includes hits like “Times Like These” and “Rope” as well as songs from their latest 2014 Sonic Highways album including “What Did I Do?/God as My Witness” which was recorded at ACL’s original home KLRU-TV’s Studio 6A with Austin guitarist Gary Clarke Jr. Clarke plays lead guitar on the song for both the HBO ‘Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways’ Austin episode as well as the ACL show. Guitarist Jimmie Vaughn and Clarke join Foo Fighters for a rousing rendition of The Fabulous Thunderbirds 1986 blues-rock classic “Tuff Enuff”.

The Foo Fighters’ Austin City Limits show was recorded November 20th, 2014 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater, the 2,700 capacity venue that has been the show’s home since moving from the smaller Studio 6A in 2011. Dave Grohl expressed admiration for the Austin City Limits show telling Rolling Stone in a November 2014 interview, “Here was a show that you could watch an entire live performance of a band – not just one song after Johnny Carson walks off the couch – in front of an intimate audience. Those experiences translate. When I was young, I was like, ‘Wow, that’s music! That’s how it’s done! Now it’s in my living room and it makes me want to do that too.’ You watch these brilliant musicians ripping on that stage week after week and it could only inspire young musicians. Maybe that’s what it was for.”
