Former Guns N’ Roses publicist Arlett Vereecke is reporting that Guns N’ Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan, and Izzy Stradlin have been writing new music, but without Axl Rose.

She exclusively tells Team Rock: “I know they’re doing some recording. They’re definitely doing something there in the studio. Axl hasn’t been there, but Slash is definitely in there and it’s not for anyone else.”

Ex-Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven also suggests that Duff McKagan and Izzy Stradlin have been working together.

He says: “Duff and Izzy were in the studio before Christmas doing stuff. At a casual glance I think they’ve got at least a couple of tracks down.”

Recent Guns N’ Roses rumors on MyGNRForum from Eddie Money indicate that the following GNR 2016 tour dates are in the works.

Dallas – May
San Francisco – May
Foxborough, MA (Gillette Stadium) – Early August
Chicago, IL (Solider Field – 2 shows on July 4th weekend
Toronto – July 16th with option for second show on July 17th

He also recently posted:

“Izzy is in for sure. My source didn’t say anything about Matt Sorum and said that there is still discussion about having Adler be a part of the tour on some level. They didn’t say that Sorum would not be involved though.”

“[Izzy will] not [play] the entire show as far as I know.”

“[Steven] is not rehearsing with them but it doesn’t mean that he’s excluded completely. Honestly, I haven’t heard one way or the other.”

“There’s an oversight management team and then each principal member (Axl, Slash, and Duff) have a representative on a committee, and there is also a forth person to look out for the interests of the unrepresented participants (Richard, Dizzy, and Izzy, Tracy, Roberta, Teddy Zig Zag, etc).”

Guns N’ Roses are rumored to be touring South America after their North American tour is expected to wrap up in September, with the following cities expected in October to December.

Colombia (1 show)
Brasil (6 shows)
Argentina (2 shows)
Chile (1 show)

Guns N’ Roses’ classic “Welcome to the Jungle” was featured in a new Taco Bell commercial last night. Taco Bell wrote, “Bigger than drones? Man buns? Those weird hoverboard things you see people riding all over the place? With delicious, melty pepper jack cheese inside the shell, the Quesalupa might just be bigger than everything.”

This ties in to Axl Rose’s tweeted on January 1st proclaiming that he loved Taco Bell. “The only thing I know “confirmed” is my LOVE of Taco Bell! Mmmmm…. Taco Bell!! Happy New Years!!”

Guns N’ Roses continue to stir and increases the frenzy of their fans to announce a date more in North America with the addition of a concert at the forum sol de Mexico city scheduled for 19 April 2016. Guns N’ Roses members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan have released a statement mocking people like Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, and Andrew Dice Clay for taking credit for their reunion.

“Guns N’ Roses would like to respectfully thank the many people taking credit for our upcoming shows and everything in between. Especially those whom we haven’t spoken to in numerous years who, through the power of media, have somehow served a pivotal, even if non-existent role. We, and the fans thank you! #GnFnR.”

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler discussed Guns N’ Roses’ reunion on The Howard Stern show recently. When asked if he was responsible for the reunion, he had the following quotes:

“I’m sure I’m not solely.”

“I ran into Axl [Rose] at a club a year or two ago and told him he’s crazy, we all miss them, and he needs to get the band back together.”

“If they didn’t get back together soon they would have missed their window and no one would have cared in 3 or 4 years.”

“People love Axl with the original band, they love him on his own but they want to see him with the original guys.”

“I said the same things to Axl that everyone said to me when me and Joe Perry were fighting.”

“Guns N Roses music was part of the fabric of all people.”

When asked about the animosity in GNR:

“I get the whole thing, I can’t talk about it. But they’re talking and they got an offer. I hope Axl can see the greater picture and not be mad at Duff and Slash.”

Howard asked if the beef was similar to the riff that tore apart Aerosmith, asked jokingly if one of the band members slept with another ones wife or something?

Steven said it was deeper then that. But the world needs to hear their music and they’re talking to each other again.

The new Guns N’ Roses reunion is far from “Paradise City” for Def Leppard. The titans of 80’s hair metal as The Telegraph reports that the group, at least guitarist Phil Collen is far from impressed over the news that Guns N’ Roses will be touring with their classic lineup for the first time in just under 25 years.

“We obviously think it’s really f****** lame. I love Guns N’ Roses, I think they’re really cool, I’d love to see Slash and Axl and Duff play together, that’s great. But I think it’s f****** lame considering we’ve been hardcore,” he snarls. “Our integrity’s still intact, we’ve never split up. We’ve gone through if someone had a little sniffle or something, we soldier on.”

Collen continued:

“Someone dies, someone loses an arm, someone gets cancer, we soldier on. [With Guns N’ Roses] if someone has a little barney backstage, they can’t deal with each other. I know it’s difficult, but I do think it’s pretty lame when you compare anyone else to us.”

According to Tom Zutaut, who signed Guns N’ Roses, the feud between Axl Rose and Slash began when Slash overdosed on heroin and “died” for eight minutes.

Axl thought a different Slash took over his body following the overdose.

“Axl genuinely believes the soul of Saul Hudson left his body when Slash OD’d,” Tom said on The Most Dangerous Band in The World documentary, via The Daily Mirror.

“That [was] the greatest stumbling block to getting the band back together.”

Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Matt Sorum discussed the Use Your Illusion records in a Spitfire interview.

“We just stayed out on the road forever, which eventually, practically killed us all (laughs), but it had a lot of legs as they say in the music business.”

He also remembered coming up with the drum parts for “November Rain” with Axl Rose. “Me and Axl were over there on the floor, we ordered some Russian caviar, we had a bottle of vodka. We sat here, me and Axl late at night, and we listened to Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me by Elton John. He was a big Elton fan, he loves Elton. We’re eating the caviar, and drinking shots of vodka, and this big epic tom fill comes by. Axl goes, ‘I want you to do that, something like that, on November Rain.'” Axl told Sorum he wanted him to use it again in “Don’t Cry” and “Estranged” as part of the ‘trilogy.’

Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash wished Steven Adler happy birthday on his Instagram over the weekend. While this obviously isn’t a guarantee that Adler will do guest performances, Guns N’ Roses’ entire reunion has been a series of social media hints. Slash wished Axl Rose happy birthday last year, an early sign that the pair had reconciled.

DJ Ashba discussed his exit from Guns N’ Roses over the weekend on WMMR.

You played with Guns N’ Roses until recently.

DJ Ashba: I did, I did. Another one of my favorite bands growing up. Six years I think it was, something like that.

Have you heard all the talk about Coachella with Guns N’ Roses?

DJ: As a fan myself I couldn’t be more stoked for the fan base. They’ve waited a long time for this to happen. It’s so good that it’s happening. I couldn’t be happier for the fans.

It was one of those thing they were told would never happen.

DJ: Laughs, yeah yeah.

I suppose had to be pretty draining doing Sixx: A.M., Guns N’ Roses, having a family. Doing all those things at once is probably overwhelming.

DJ: It was, it was a lot of work. But I’ve got to be honest ya know. I had the time of my life, I am beyond grateful to share the stage and had so many memories and met so many great fans out there. It was just a great time in my life.

However, we did this latest Sixx: A.M. run and it really just kind of made me go, wait a second, there’s a huge difference playing somebody else’s songs and playing my own. You know what I mean, I just felt every note I hit. Wow this is where I need to be. It was that tour that made me realize I had to go back to what I’m really about. I’m really really stoked.

The reunited Guns N’ Roses have announced their first two reunion concerts that will take place ahead of the Coachella festival. The band will perform in Las Vegas at the new T-Mobile Arena on April 8th and 9th.

The venue announced, “History will be made in April when Guns N’ Roses – featuring the iconic lineup of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan – regroup for the first time in 23 years on the T-Mobile Arena stage. After announcing that they will headline Coachella, the band has now confirmed the very first place the world can see their historical return will be on the Las Vegas Strip, where they will perform a two-night rock spectacular at the brand new T-Mobile Arena. Guns N’ Roses will perform Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9.”

Steven Adler’s band ‘Adler’ will be performing at at Whiskey A-Go-Go on April 1st in Los Angeles. Adler is also booked for the M3 Rock Festival on April 30th. Neither date conflicts with Coachella, but Adler is clearly not committing the entire month of April to Guns N’ Roses, even if he makes rumored guest appearances.

Eddie Trunk also reported on his podcast last week that Matt Sorum was never part of Guns N’ Roses reunion discussions. “I’ve heard from day one, when I first heard rumors of this reunion a year ago, that Matt would not be involved.” He added, “Apparently there’s heat with somebody, I don’t know.”

Billboard is reporting Guns N’ Roses will likely be paid $3 million dollars per U.S. stadium concert that they are expected to play this summer. With the reported total of 25 shows, that would be $89 million total with $75 million for the stadium shows along with the rumored $14 million pay day for Coachella. Tickets will top out at $250 to $275. This total number doesn’t even factor in rumored shows in Europe and South America, which will easily push the band into grossing hundreds of millions of dollars.

The Police’s 2007/2008 tour is the reunion to beat, taking in $362 million from 151 concerts around the world.

“It might very well be a home run,” Washington, D.C.-based indie promoter Seth Hurwitz told Billboard. “It might very well be that it’s not. I prefer not to take part in these kind of all-or-nothing bets myself.”

Former GNR manager Doc McGhee (2010-2012), maintains, “If it’s done right, it should do amazing [business]. If they have their shit together and go out there to kill, I think everybody comes to see them. If not, they’ll have a tough time selling it.”

Comedian Andrew Dice Clay is claiming that he helped orchestrate the reunion of Guns N’ Roses members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan. The Interro Bang reports:

“Back in February 2015, Slash surprised the music world by tweeting @AxlRose wishing him a Happy Birthday. According to Dice, he helped make that tweet happen when he told GnR road manager Tom Mayhew, who he’s been friends with for nearly three decades that they need to get Slash to tweet something good about Axl. Soon after, the infamous birthday tweet.

Dice says he’d run into Slash when he was performing in Australia and told Slash that Guns had millions of fans who would love to seem them get back together. He also opened for Axl at the Hard Rock in Vegas, and told Axl that it was time for the band to get back together. A few months later, Duff McKagen came to see Dice’s son’s band, previously known as L.A. Rocks, now Still Rebel. Dice says Duff told him Still Rebel was ready to break out. Dice, in return, mentioned to Duff that he thought Guns should get back together.”

Zegut is reporting that Guns N’ Roses will be paid $14 million to perform at Coachella in April. GNR will be performing on Saturday at both weekends of the festival, so that is $7 million per show. Eddie Trunk is reporting on his show Trunk Nation that Slash’s manager has told him that Guns N’ Roses will do no press or interviews prior to their performance at Coachella in April. Slash’s bandmate Todd Kerns also told Trunk on Trunk Nation that the Conspirators knew for ‘some time’ about the Guns N’ Roses reunion, but that Slash still plans on making another album.

Former Guns N’ Roses manager Alan Niven has claimed that Izzy Stradlin has written with the band recently, but is not eager to immediately be a full time member of Guns N’ Roses again even with Slash and Duff McKagan’s return to the band.

“Izzy will sit on the sidelines until he feels like he wants to get his toes in the water. He doesn’t like all the drama.”

“I think he’s written with them.”

He added, “Recently.”

Susan Holmes McKagan, Duff’s wife, has said ‘never say never’ in regard to Izzy returning to the band.

Metal Sludge recently reported that Izzy Stradlin and Steven Adler could be guest performers on Guns N’ Roses’ upcoming reunion tour.

“It’s Axl, Slash & Duff. And whoever they decided to hire for the week, month or leg of a specific tour. If anyone so much as steps a foot to the left, they will be replaced faster than Summer’s replaces clip-in extensions on tour.”

He added, “It’s the Big 3, Dizzy will be on keys, Frank on drums and Richard on rythym. And Izzy will saunter in a few nights and do 2-3 songs. Adler will get a chance to play a song or two, and my guess, might even be done 38 Special style. With both drummers. I’ve heard from sources Axl does not like Sorum, and he’s also said a few dumb things in recent years – so he’s not likely to be there unless he bought a ticket. Scatter in a guest here or there on guitar, or Bach singing a duet with the boss on a night or two. Maybe if Fortus breaks an arm or something, they might bring in Gilby for a run of shows. I’d also wager there will be another utility player or two on the trek playing keyboards, or maybe even some extra guitar. Mark my words on all of this.”

Ex-Poison manager Howie Hubberman hinted at Facebook at Guns N’ Roses trying to find a way to have some sort of role for Steven Adler in the reunion. “Negotiations are not finished. They are doing this the right way!! Right way would include Steven (in some way).

Guns N’ Roses are rumored to be planning a secret show in the Los Angeles area next month, which will be the first official reunion show, and a warm up heading into Coachella, according to a MyGNRForum member. The band are currently rehearsing (Slash, Duff McKagan, and Frank Ferrer have confirmed that they are rehearsing) but Axl Rose has yet to join the band. GNR have also been working on new material, some of which is rumored to have originated during the Chinese Democracy era.

Chinese Democracy songs are also being rehearsed and will be performed live. The band are still working on furture plans, with a U.S. tour planned along with shows in key places in Europe and South America. The band are still negotiating the business deals for members outside of Axl, Slash, and Duff.

Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan has shared a photo of his gear he will be using on GNR’s upcoming 2016 tour which will kick off at Coachella. The photo is from a Guns N’ Roses rehearsal.

Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, and Chris Pitman are all now confirmed to be part of Guns N’ Roses’ 2016 lineup, joining Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Frank Ferrer. This could end up being the complete lineup, unless a third guitarist joins or Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin appear as special guests. See the confirmation below, with Ferrer confirming Fortus through a retweet, a family member confirming Reed, and a Pitman confirming his involvement himself.

BILD is reporting the first Guns N’ Roses 2016 European concert date. According to their sources, Guns N’ Roses will perform in July at the Hockenheim Ring in Hockenheim, Germany.

As we have been reporting for months, the reunited Guns N’ Roses will be headlining the Coachella festival in Indio, CA in April 2016. Billboard confirmed our reports earlier today, also reporting that the band will play the new Las Vegas Arena, which is set to open in April. Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan so far are the only confirmed members.

Alternative Nation has learned that Guns N’ Roses will announce additional United States stadium tour dates in late January 2016. We previously reported on December 1st that around 25 dates were planned, and this still appears to be the case. A show at MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (where the New York Jets and New York Giants play) is reportedly in the works.

Consequence of Sound
is reporting that Matt Sorum will be the drummer, but there have been many contradictory reports, with Frank Ferrer even hinting at his own involvement, and Steven Adler publicly lobbying for his job back just a couple of months ago.

After nearly two decades of whispers, hopes and rumors it really is true, Guns N’Roses are getting back together again for a reunion tour. Right now it looks like we’re only going to get 3 of the original 5 members. But that still means that Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan will share the same stage together for the first time since July 17th, 1993. That date over 22 years ago was the final show on the band’s 2 year Use Your Illusion tour that ended triumphantly in Argentina.

Since then, Axl and Slash had a falling out of epic proportions, and Slash left the band in 1996. Duff followed a year later, and Guns N’ Roses’ only original member was Axl. Throughout the 2000’s and as recently as 2014, Axl had been touring with various different members on the Chinese Democracy tours. Duff filled in for some special guest appearances, and helped the band out almost full time on their 2014 South American tour. Original guitarist Izzy Stradlin even appeared from time to time, but there was no sign of Slash being asked back.

Last summer that all changed when Axl and Slash finally broke the ice and started talking again for the first time in 19 years. The reunion tour is due to kick off with a headlining slot at the Coachella Festival on April 16th. However what is the betting that the band play some low key warm up shows beforehand? It’s happened in the past most famously when they played two small club shows in 1989 before supporting The Rolling Stones. And then of course their 3 warm up shows in Los Angeles, San Francisco and The Ritz club in New York before the start of the Use Your Illusion tour. Patrons in LA keep an eye out for possible shows in the coming months.

To celebrate the return of the core of the most familiar Guns N’ Roses line up, we are taking a look back at some of the band’s all time greatest gigs. These shows are from the band’s formation in 1985 up until 1993.

10. RIVERPOINT AMPHITHEATRE, ST LOUIS, July 2nd, 1991

This show will inevitably always be remembered as the infamous riot show, as Axl dived into the crowd and grabbed a video camera from a ‘fan’ who was bootlegging the show. An outraged Axl stormed off the stage and a riot ensued that caused millions of dollars of damage to the bands equipment. But there was so much more to this show than actually meets the eye. Up until that incident which took place almost 90 minutes into the set, we were witnessing one of the great Guns shows. It was intense, mean, and Guns N’ Roses were living up to their old tag of ‘the most dangerous band in the world’. Sure, right from the start Axl looked in a bad mood, but he put that negative energy into the show and it worked for the most part before exploding. If one show summarized the Use Your Illusion tour, it was this one. It literally had everything.

9. PERKINS PALACE, PASADENA, December 26th-30th, 1987

Four shows were played over 5 nights at the Perkins Palace as part of Guns N’Roses holiday season homecoming shows. These shows have reached legendary status with Guns N’ Roses fans. Because of an injured hand, Steven Adler did not play at any of these shows, and instead Fred Coury of Cinderella filled in. During the four shows, 10 different songs from Appetite For Destruction are played, and staple covers such as “Knockin’ On Heavens Door” and “Mama Kin” are also belted out.

8. JACK MURPHY STADIUM, SAN DIEGO, September 30th 1992

This show was part of the infamous Guns N’ Roses/Metallica co-headlining tour of summer/fall 1992. Whilst the tour had its ups and downs, which included a 2nd Guns N’ Roses riot in Montreal after Axl walked off stage after hurting his vocal chords, it was nights like this that made it all worthwhile. Unlike regular set lists at this time, the band started the night off with its first four songs from Appetite For Destruction. The band were in a good mood, especially Slash who had become an United States citizen that day. Earlier in the day the crowd were treated to Bodycount and Motorhead.

7. GIANTS STADIUM, NEW JERSEY, August 16th, 1988

This show is most famous for fans as being part of the video for “Paradise City.” The rest of the footage would be coupled from the bands Donington Monsters of Rock show in England which took place just four days after this one. This may have been the first show where Axl wore his infamous white leather coat, a coat that would usually be worn during “Paradise City.” The band opened up for Aerosmith and Deep Purple and finished the set calmly with “Used To Love Her”.

6. THE MARQUEE, LONDON, June 28th, 1987

Guns N’ Roses’ first ever European shows were in London, England and they played 3 nights at the infamous Marquee Club in Soho. The shows were a sell out, and over those 3 nights 1,500 fans got to see them in the tiny sweatbox. However, it is their 3rd and last show which is remembered the fondest. The bulk of the material was from the upcoming Appetite For Destruction, but covers such as “Nice Boys” and AC/DC’s “Whole Lotta Rosie” were thrown in for good measure. This show completed the band’s 10 day stay in London.

5. WEMBLEY STADIUM, LONDON, June 13th, 1992

Most reviewers agreed at the time that this was one of the hottest gigs on the Use Your Illusion tour. Just before the band took to the stage the Sid Vicious cover classic “My Way” roared from the PA and they kicked off with staple set opener “It’s So Easy”. During the show Axl has a troublemaker ejected from the venue and screams at him “Wanker”. Somehow a stage invader makes it on stage and hugs Slash, Axl teases the crowd that he may be married (this was to then girlfriend Stephanie Seymour), and Brian May of Queen joins the band for two classic Queen tracks. Whilst a backing band of several may have bloated the tour, by this time there were still evidently nights where it all clicked. Faith No More and Soundgarden opened the show.

4. BUDOKAN HALL, TOKYO, December 10th, 1988

Ever since Axl Rose knew that The Beatles had played in this infamous venue, he wanted to play here. It finally happened 3 years after the band’s formation. The crowd were really into the show, which was a surprise given how conservative Japanese crowds were back in the 80’s and early 1990’s. The band play 17 songs, including 10 from their debut album.

3. THE RITZ, NEW YORK, February 2nd, 1988

This show, at the now sadly defunct Ritz, is the most accessible for any fan wanting to see what ‘old’ Guns N’ Roses shows were all about. That’s because this show was professionally filmed by MTV and the band didn’t let anyone down. Axl, Duff, and Slash stagedived during the gig and played a no holds barred 60 minute set to a frenzied crowd. You can tell this is a rock band in the absolute prime of their careers, and they were loving every minute of it. Steven Adler spends the show with a constant smile on his face without missing a beat. For most fans back in the day, The Ritz show was their official introduction to the band from LA.

2. THE ROXY, LOS ANGELES, March 28th, 1986

Complete sleaze, Axl backcombed hair, Duff the punk rocker, Izzy cool as shit, Slash (probably drunk) but on cue, and Steven Adler smashing those snares like its his final show- this was Guns N’ Roses on top of the world. What made this show extra special is that two sets were played. One at 10PM, and then another at midnight. The shows almost didn’t happen when the band were stopped and searched by police for drugs outside the venue. During the show a stripper dances around the stage and the band play 16 different songs over the 2 sets. This was a night of celebration so to speak as the band had signed with Geffen Records just two days prior. The ads for these shows said ‘why are we playing? Because we need the money’.

1. GREAT WESTERN FORUM, INGLEWOOD, August 3rd, 1991

Whilst the small club shows will forever be remembered for Guns N’ Roses in perhaps their purest form, the band proved that they could still bring it live to arenas and stadiums throughout the world. But on the night of August 3rd, 1991 something unique happened. Guns N’ Roses, in their farewell to LA as they departed for their European leg of the Use Your Illusion tour, played for almost 4 hours. It remains the longest Guns N’ Roses concert ever. However, as startling that fact is, this isn’t why this show is at No. 1 of all time. The band simply put on an awesome performance that called back to their glorious club days, but also brought with it things to come from this tour. 18 of the 31 tracks came from Use Your Illusion I and II, still by far the most tracks played from that record in one show. “You Ain’t the First”, “Dead Horse” and “Yesterdays” were given their live debuts and “Locomotive” a song rarely played live was also unleashed. Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon, a close friend of Axl, did back up vocals on “Don’t Cry”, and Sebastian Bach of Skid Row sang along on “You’re Crazy”. Unbelievably, the show finished at 3:30AM and unfortunately some of the crowd had to leave, as the band would simply not leave the stage. Certainly a rock n’ roll show that went down in history.

Guns N’ Roses began rehearsing yesterday for their 2016 tour. Slash shared a photo on Instagram where Frank Ferrer’s drum set is also visible.
