Frances Bean Cobain discussed Kurt Cobain and Nirvana in an April 2015 interview with Rolling Stone.

“I don’t really like Nirvana that much [grins]. Sorry, promotional people, Universal. I’m more into Mercury Rev, Oasis, Brian Jonestown Massacre [laughs]. The grunge scene is not what I’m interested in. But ‘Territorial Pissings’ [on Nevermind] is a fucking great song. And ‘Dumb’ [on In Utero] – I cry every time I hear that song. It’s a stripped-down version of Kurt’s perception of himself – of himself on drugs, off drugs, feeling inadequate to be titled the voice of a generation.”

She also discussed meeting Nirvana’s surviving members. “It’s very weird how genes are. Dave [Grohl], Krist [Novoselic] and Pat [Smear] came over to a house where I was living. It was the first time [the ex-Nirvana members] had been together in a long time. And they had what I call the ‘K. C. Jeebies,’ which is when they see me, they see Kurt. They look at me, and you can see they’re looking at a ghost. They were all getting the K. C. Jeebies hardcore. Dave said, ‘She is so much like Kurt.’ They were all talking amongst themselves, rehashing old stories I’d heard a million times. I was sitting in a chair, chain-smoking, looking down like this [affects total boredom]. And they went, ‘You are doing exactly what your father would have done.’

But I was glad they came over [smiles[. It was a cool experience, like having a Nirvana reunion minus one. Except for his spawn.”

Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea had some critical words for Thanksgiving last week. He tweeted, “The native Americans were slaughtered, raped, and robbed by the weird, lying invaders who showed up in ships one day.”

He later added, “I’m aware that thanksgiving is about being thankful for bonds with people. I am very thankful. We still murdered the Indians in my thoughts.”

Frances Bean Cobain married longtime boyfriend (and Kurt Cobain lookalike) Isaiah Silva in a secret wedding last month, and she didn’t invite her mother Courtney Love, who didn’t find out about the marriage until she got a phone call. Love appeared to take a shot at her daughter for snubbing her on Instagram, saying that she was spending her time last week with model James Norley, which was worth ‘flaking on anything for’ and canceling all of her appointments. She also hashtagged ‘Jealous much?’

Love wrote, “If you think I’m sorry for being a no-show at any important events this week, think again. I was with @jamesnorley ❤ #candyface #worthflakingonanythingfor #heaven #worthit #slay #bae #cancelallmyappointments #donthate #stud #jealousmuch ? Bwahaa xc”

The wedding was secret and very intimate, and Cobain did not invite her mother Courtney Love. The Daily Mirror reports that Love was ‘sad’ she wasn’t invited, and was only told after the fact on the phone by her daughter.

A source tells The Daily Mirror Mirror: “Frances is totally loved up with Isaiah, but she’s never been one to broadcast it to the world.”

“She only invited a close circle of friends to the party, and then phoned her mum afterwards to tell her the good news.”

“Courtney and Frances have had a strained relationship over the years, but after tons of fallouts they actually get on quite well now. Courtney is sad she wasn’t there but she totally understands that Frances is her own person and she’s happy to let her do her own thing. Plus, Isaiah is a really nice guy.”

Frances Bean Cobain Made Morbid Art For David Letterman

Frances Bean Cobain shared a piece of artwork she made for David Letterman when she was 6 years old yesterday on Twitter. Cobain tweeted, “mad by froces for @Letterman when i was 6. you’re welcome. i was such a morbid kid look at all the blood #MouseMurder.”

Dave Grohl appeared on Elliot In The Morning a few months ago and discussed Foo Fighters’ relationship with David Letterman, as transcribed by Alternative Nation. Foo Fighters performed on David Letterman’s final Late Show in May.

“David Letterman has been the coolest. The Sonic Highways show that I did for HBO, he was the first person that I called. I called his producer, this guy Rob Burnett at Worldwide Pants, and I was like: ‘I have this idea. I want to go to 8 different cities and I want to do a documentary about each city, and record a song in each city.’ He said, ‘Man, that’s amazing, let me ask Dave.’ He e-mailed me within 45 minutes and said, ‘Dave said the idea is great, and whatever you’ve got to do to make it happen, just make it happen.’ So that whole Sonic Highways thing wouldn’t have happened without Dave too.

The core of our friendship and relationship really is when he had his heart surgery [15] years ago. When they announced he was coming back, his first show, he asked someone, ‘What about the Foo Fighters? Would they come and play the song Everlong?’ We really dropped everything to be there for him, and ever since then, our relationship has been real. It’s not like one of those talk show guys where you sit on the couch and just sort of chat around a desk. We’ve had some deep conversations backstage, where you realize he’s not only the funniest person in the world, but he’s also a very sweet, kind, generous, and genuine person. We really really grew to love him over the years, and to say goodbye to America, I choked up two or three times standing there waiting to play. I was just like, ‘Okay dude, grow a pair, keep it together, you’ve just got to play your song, don’t be that guy crying on national television.'”

Director Brett Morgen discussed Frances Bean Cobain and Kurt Cobain’s mother Wendy O’Connor’s feelings on the drug use depicted in the new documentary Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck in a new Deadline interview.

“When Kurt’s mother voiced some concerns about the way she was depicted, and the way Kurt was seen in the latter stages of his life, it was Frances who called and said, ‘Mom, Grandma, this is not your film. This is Kurt’s film, and how you experience things is quite different than the way Kurt experienced things.’ I think the point was if we allow our mothers to dictate the content of our biographies they would be pretty nice. I mean of course the mother doesn’t want to show her child in any light that’s less than favorable, but it was Frances’s desire to not hide the truth, and I think that both Frances and I arrived at the same point, which was we were not trying to tear Kurt or put Kurt down, nor were we trying to put him on a pedestal. We were simply trying to look him in the eye, to empathize, to find a point of entry in which we can understand how he experienced life.”

Morgen also discussed Frances’ feelings on her father after watching the film.

“This is considered an authorized documentary, and by that it suggests that we received access to the primary source material, but as you and I both know, ‘authorized’ has a negative connotation. It generally means watered-down or censored. We live in an era in which brands and the state have a tremendous monetary value, and so there is a great need by the rights-holders to protect that investment. At our first meeting, after we shook hands, I sat down at a table with Frances and before I could pitch her the film I wanted to make, she proceeded to tell me that she thought that whatever film was constructed it should lean heavily on Kurt’s art, and if nothing else, it needed to be honest. What she went on to say is that during her travels through life, people are constantly coming up to her talking about Kurt as if he was some sort of mythical character, like a unicorn or a Santa Claus, and she said, ‘You know, the best way we can pay tribute to Kurt is to create a film that is honest. That is what Kurt was about, honesty and integrity, and so don’t shy from the truth.’ Upon seeing the film for the first time, Frances looked at me and said, ‘do not touch a frame.’ You know, before she said that, she said, ‘Thank you for giving me a couple hours with my father that I never thought I would have.'”
