STP’s Dean DeLeo Compares Scott Weiland To A 2-Year Old Baby, Calls Him A ‘F**king Mess’

In a new interview with Yahoo, Stone Temple Pilots guitarist Dean DeLeo discussed the differences between Chester Bennington and Scott Weiland. “There’s no comparison. It’s like talking about the strength of a 2-year-old baby compared to a professional body builder. I’ll tell you this man, Robert, Eric and I are really fortunate. We’re having the time of our lives right now. We really feel like this has been a rebirth.”

As for a possible reunion with the Big Bang Baby (Weiland) down the road, apparently that ship has sailed. “Why that f*ck would we want that?,” DeLeo asks. “That f*cking mess? I just told you earlier we’re on a rebirth now. We’re with a guy that pushes us. We’re with a guy that is 1000% present,” he adds, before pausing. “I’ve waited almost my entire career for this.”

Saw the STP Yahoo live show tonight and Chester is pretty damn awesome with the band. I am not exactly an STP fan, but Chester sure does manage to hit a lot of Weiland’s notes without trying to copy his vocals exactly. The band seemed to be having fun, and that is really what is most important.

STP is too good of a band to just break up because the original frontman is a mess. I’m glad Chester is working out for them.

I’m not saying that they were wrong in firing Scott, because he was unreliable and unprofessional, but jeez, that’s a real dick comment from Dean.

  • JoelS

It is kind of a jerk comment, but I’m sure they’re also tired of being asked about a Scott reunion by EVERY interviewer. I was at the NYC show last night, and it was one of the most energetic concerts i’d been to in a long time. The entire band was firing on all cylinders.

I’m sure it’s annoying that people still ask about Scott, but that’s the price you pay for keeping the STP name, and it’s a pretty minor one considering they wouldn’t even be getting press (or ticket sales) in the first place if they went by a new name.

If they are tired of it, they could just not answer. Agreed they are putting on great shows though. They definitely made the right move.

I understand Talk Show and Army of Anyone where no where near STP’s level of success but does anyone else think its kind of fucked up when he says things like “Were with a guy that is 1000% I’ve waited my whole career for this”. Seriously show some respect to Dave Coutts and Richard Patrick man. Fuck. Its not their fault you gave up on those bands after one album. Alter Bridge didn’t have Creed’s success but they didn’t just roll over and die after their first album. Now they have one of the best fanbases in the industry.
Regardless I’m happy his fire has been lit again and I can’t wait for the new record.

  • Eddie Yarler

“We’re with a guy that is 1000% present” Ha yeah only when Linkin Park isn’t busy

  • Jim Kirk

Remember who sung you there asshole. Talk show? Fail. Army of Anyone? Fail. You had to go get the singer of another popular band to help you.

So remember..you are playing bike week and places just a little better thsn what Scott is playing…but not by much. If Scott came out and did straight STP…hed be doing the same places as you.

    Ungrateful fuck

    • Chris

Scott’s playing to 60 people, and STP to sold out 1500 crowds. So that’s really a load of total bollocks.

      • Jim Kirk

So is that sentence. Why? Cause chester is singing scotts songs…

        Face.

        • Chris

Yeah. Singing them to sold out crowds of 1500 people.

          • Jim Kirk

Ok sweetheart. U must love chester

          • Chris

Look how much you care about this shit. Adults everywhere are laughing at you kiddy.

          • Jim Kirk

This is true. But i like watching you stomp your feet and retort. Please continue
