SOUNDGARDEN DISCUSS NEW SONG “LIVE TO RISE”

Soundgarden briefly spoke to Billboard.com about their new track “Live to Rise”:

“We’ve been hard at work on our new album, which will come out this fall,” the band said in a statement on Billboard. “When the opportunity arose to write an original song for Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’ film… we thought it could be a cool match.”

I love that riff. I can’t wait for the whole song.

That must have been a quick phone call to Billboard..

  • billy

based on that comment, it would appear that this song is not from the album?

I loved those riffs on that song it made me pick up my guitar plug it in and learn it and now I smile!

  • Adam

The riff is good, but many this sounds overly produced and compressed. Whoever produced this needs to let the instruments breathe

  • Max

Agreed, it sounds overproduced. Hopefully the album won’t be like this too (which it prolly won’t, since this is prolly just for the movie.)

  • GrungeAttack

    prolly ???? WTF Plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Overproduced ~~~~!!!!~~~~~ Earache My Eye~

  • Max

Wow, quite the insightful argument you formed there. I just said it sounds overproduced, I’m sure it will be a kickass song.

  • not4you

where did you get this stupid word overproduced?? sound very hipster…can tell me what you mean by this??? yeah it doesnt sound like their first albums, 20 years gone, cmon

  • Cody

tell me what you mean by overproduced? what does this even mean? are you trying to say overcompressed? are you even talented enough to spot compression?

  • Captain

Sounds fucking awesome! Just enjoy some rock n roll. Its hard to come by these days!

  • GrungeAttack

I’m just saying, “overproduced”? Do you mean “clean”, “glossy”, what? Unless the production isn’t used as a crutch and doesn’t obstruct the music, who cares?

  • Adam

glossy sounding is the perfect description. I love the riff and maybe it’s just the online audio rip, but I cringed at the 0:14 in the song.

THIS SONG IS PERFECT :) ITS HARD ROCKING, ITS GOT THE RIGHT BEATS, RHYTHM, GUITARS AND BASS, NOW IT ALL NEEDS IS CHRIS CORNELLS 1990S GRUNGE VOCALS AND IT WILL BE 100% KICK ASS PERFECT . DONT WORRY EVERYONE, SOUNDGARDEN NEVER DISAPPOINT, SOME FOLKS THOUGHT DOWN ON THE UPSIDE AND SUPERUNKNOWN WERE ALSO TOO OVERPRODUCED . BUT THE RIGHT INSTRUMENTS AND THE RIGHT MIXING CAN TURN A SIMPLE ROCK GUITAR SOUND INTO REALLY EPIC AND GREAT , ORIGINAL AND FRESH TO LISTEN TO . JUST WHAT THE NEW AVENGERS MOVIE SOUNDTRACK AND THE NEW SOUNDGARDEN ALBUM NEED ( NEW ORIGINAL FRESH GRUNGE ROCK N ROLL MUSIC ) FOR THE OLD AND NEW GENERATION

  • GrungeAttack

    2012 MAYAN CALENDAR yes perfect!

This from another forum where people know music.

“Overproduction usually refers to the presence of so many digital effects that the original sound is lost and you only hear the effects.

Generally the sounds ceases to sound analog and begins to sound overtly digital.”

Now that does not even make sense with the 22 second clip we all heard. Wait for the full song at least. Then there might be a reason for such a statement.
So that is why I said what I did! OK. Adam And Max or anyone else who thinks the same thing.

  • Max

Yea, overproduced was a bad word, meant glossy and clean I suppose.

  • Kyle

I like that cool cymbal effect they used. Makes it sound like a landmark song.
