From the Ten Club board, spaced out on posting this yesterday:

01. Don’t Be Shy-(Yusuf Islam)
02. I Am Mine
03. Can’t Keep
(Ed says that he has spent more days in Manchester in the last two months than he has in the previous 20 years. And he still hasn’t seen the sun. He amends that by noting he went outside to smoke just before Glen’s set and saw the sun but the rain was still coming down)
04. Sleeping By Myself
05. Without You
(Ed discusses the West Memphis Three and all the work that went into getting the innocent men off of death row and out of prison. He also talks about how he recorded “Satellite” about ten years ago that was about them. He says that on the “Ukulele Songs” album you can hear a phone ring just as he finishes recording the song. The phone call was from Damien’s wife Lorri.)
06. Satellite
07. Sometimes
(Ed talks about meeting a man named Ognan (sp) who had just recently been married. His arm was in a sling and he explained he broke it at the wedding party. Ed asked where his wife was? Ognan said they could only get one ticket. Ed got Ognan’s wife Monica a ticket for the show as a wedding present. He invites them to come up to the stage but they don’t appear.)
08. Picture In A Frame-(Kathleen Brennan/Tom Waits)
(Ed still looking for Ognan and Monica tells security that if they see a guy with a blue cast to bring him up to the stage)

(Ognan finally makes it on stage. Ed congratulates him and gives him a copy of the “Ukulele Songs” songbook)

(Ed talks about his friend, Dennis Flemion of The Frogs, who had recently passed away. Ed dedicates “Long Road” to him.)
15. Long Road
16. Better Man (high string version)
(Ed talks about a Palm’s guitar shop in Amsterdam and his old Black Gibson that he got after recording “Into The Wild”.)
17. Unthought Known
(Ed says this song was written about Ronny Wood. Ed says he might fuck it up but that Ronny wouldn’t care, not that Ronny ever fucks up or remembers it if he does.)

Always enjoy reading EV’s interaction with audience in between songs. The story’s are always interesting and/or funny. Didn’t know that about the phone ringing on Uke Songs. Good looking set, still hoping for some crazy shit come Halloween in Vegas!

  • LOL

    LOL, EDDIE IS GOD!!! 😀

eddie vedder smokes? Idk… hope this doesnt fuck up his voice… (not gonna say anything mean cuz i know the PJ faithful go ‘jihad’ [holy war] mode when somebody says something negative about PJ or Eddie).

  • kez

thats cause the faithful dont like the truth that 1 of the best vocalist has stuffed his voice from years of smoking and drinking superSG..ed today sounds shocking most the time he tries to sing in a higher key which makes him sound like a dying cat he is best suited down low like the earlier yrs but yeah its like talking to a brick wall i told ed in newcastle when i ran into him that he needs to stop smoking and drop his key like the old days and do u think i got an not..cause he knows im right..its a damn shame but hey thats the way it is…i see no new songs which doesnt suprise me..eds and pj’s lack of creativity these days really dissapoints me as a fan

You meet a legend like Eddie Vedder and choose to spend that time trying to convince him to quit smoking?! Lol, I bet that annoyed him! Seriously though I think he still sounds great, I mean even if he didn’t smoke all those years of touring and just ageing in general are gonna take a toll on your voice. There’s not many artists who started out in the 80’s and 90’s who sound just as good now as they did then but many have come off much worse than Eddie.

  • Lennart

Chris Cornell is a perfect example of a recovering voice. He quit smoking around 2005 and belts out Beyond The fucking Wheel every night SG plays. If Chris can do that, you can do it too, Eddie.

  • Lennart

That being said, Eddie sounds better compared to last year (PJ20 was horrid IMO).

  • http://deleted SuperSG

CHRIS sounded great at Pj20!! hehe, maybe its BECAUSE HE QUIT SMOKING!!! I always thought Vedders voice kept sounding more ragged every album.

  • Lennart

I think Vedders voice was fantastic up until 2006, aged like a fine whine. Then it went downhill.

  • Lennart

    *wine , lol

  • Go21

He is a going downhill. Vedder is a lying fucktard who is full of pigshit and is just after everyone’s goddamn money.

  • http://deleted SuperSG

woah, go21, where’d that come from?

  • michael

Go21 really is Liam Gallagher who is jealous as hell that Ed can sing write & has talent!! Wanker

  • http://? Becca

I really enjoyed this gig, I personally think Mr Vedder’s voice is badass! Can anyone who is saying negative things bout it sing equally or better than him? It’s up to him if he wants to smoke, although he did light up on the stage just prior to his exit! Naughty Vedder, very naughty haha
