  • Alternadude

Weird setlist. They need new material.

  • Alternadude

Lack of “Mer de noms” songs. Judith?

  • Joe

So glad I missed that one. Too much eMotive.

  • Alternadude

Emotive makes me sad. Very disappointing album, especially after the awesome first 2.

  • s2dandy

Great band, but it’s the same set list from the last 2-3 tours?
All these shows are now are cash grabs.

  • Abe Froman

    Extremely disappointing setlist.

They have a great library to choose from, but instead of playing “Judith”, “Orestes”, “Magdalena” or “The Pet”, they are playing crappy re-mixes / new versions of songs that were better in their orignal versions (“Counting Bodies…” blows compared to “The Pet”) maybe they play the “3 Libras” re-mix because they no longer have a violinist in the band, so I say don’t play the song anymore, play Brena or The Nurse Who Loved Me.

Furthermore, when touring on their first two albums, they did fun covers like Bowie’s “Ashes to Ashes”, or a mash-up of Ozzy’s “Diary of a Mad-man” and the Cure’s “Love Song”. Now they are jerking us around with that stomach turning cover of “Imagine”.

E-Motive sucked balls. Bigtime. It’s unbearable compared to their first two albums, but they insist on playing that material live. “When the Levee Breaks” and “What’s Going On” are the only tolerable tracks on that album.

I still love the music this band has done, and will see them live again if it’s convenient for me, but at the end of the day I agree with s2dandy, these are complete cash grabs. (& that sucks for us fans who liked the first two albums)

  • NevertheMachine

I want “By and Down” recorded in the studio and released, such an awesome song

  • Philip

I hear you Abe, that “eMotive” is a disappointing album. It should have/ could have been an album of all new material instead of covers (though we did get the great ‘Passive’ out of it). But I don’t think the setlist of this gig is as bad as some are saying here. Having caught 2 shows during their 2011 run I can say with confidence that, though the sets were heavy on “eMotive” material, those songs translate better live. I can’t put my finger on why exactly, but I remember not having a problem with them live. Agreed that ‘By and Down’ should be recorded in the studio…

  • Abe Froman

@ Phillip: I can’t disagree with what you’re saying, I saw them in Boston in July of 2011, and was very surprised with how much I enjoyed the Emotive material live.
With that being said, it’s a year and a half later, and they are still playing the same setlist, it would be nice to hear some of their other material. Much like Tool, they have one setlist for several years, and don’t deviate much from that list. That blows.

It makes you appreciate a band like Pearl Jam that changes their setlist drastically, constantly from night to night.

  • Philip

I know man I’ve always admired that about Pearl Jam. Wildly variant setlists are great thing indeed. You’re right though that new material from A Perfect Circle studio/ live would be due now. Well, it would be nice.

  • Shadow on the Sun

For the love of pete! Stop touring a nearly 9yr old cover album. The fact that this is still the setlist tells me we won’t see another APC album in 2013 or ever fir that matter.

  • rvgdog

Please more material from Mer de Noms!!! Please don’t play 3 libras remix anymore!!!It blows!!

  • rvgdog

If someone can tell this to them!! it woould be apreciated not just for me, for the fans!!

  • ReverendMaynard

Glad to see Maynard found something else to delay the next TOOL record… get your shit together and get in the studio with Justin, Danny, and Adam already!

  • Dennis

I can’t imagine seeing them without hearing Judith and Pet. Brutal.
I’m sure Judith falls under the “it’s too personal for me so I don’t want to play it” category for Maynard now. Just like Tool’s H.
