Reunited Guns N’ Roses Ask Festival For Over $8 Million

99 Scenes is reporting that the reunited Guns N’ Roses were in negotiations to play at the Amnesia Rockfest, arguably Quebec’s biggest music festival. Promoters couldn’t reach an agreement though, as they thought Guns N’ Roses were asking for too much money. The band’s asking price is reportedly 4 times more than what they’ve paid any other act. The festival paid System of a Down $2 million last year, so if this report is true, Guns N’ Roses wanted at least $8 million.

Metal Sludge is reporting that Guns N’ Roses will record 1 to 2 new songs in early 2016. The band will also sign working agreements (contracts) in early January for their reunion and upcoming tour dates.

Many sources are reporting that an announcement is expected on January 5th. Former Velvet Revolver guitarist Dave Kushner liked Alternative Nation’s tweet on Friday linking to our story titled ‘Guns N’ Roses Website Switches To Original Logo, Reunion Imminent.’

A mysterious advertisement seemingly advertising Guns N’ Roses’ upcoming 2016 reunion tour is now being shown before Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The advertisement shows a crowd, but not much else. Guns N’ Roses are expected to announce a 2016 reunion tour in just days, with a Coachella appearance expected.

Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan thus far are the only members confirmed by sources and members of the media, with the status of Izzy Stradlin, Steven Adler, and Matt Sorum unknown.

Duff McKagan has also shared a photo of himself playing bass with the caption ‘LAMF,’ seemingly playing to prepare for the upcoming reunion. Duff had ‘LAMF’ written on his bass amp during the Use Your Illusions tour and in the “Yesterdays” video.

Mother of god. It's really happening. #starwars #preview #gunsnroses

    …and Axl’s greed continues

    • — J —

Yes, how DARE a band that just got inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ask to be paid for being now considered one of the greatest acts of all time.

      • Jimmy Intense

Check out the cost associated with booking popular acts and tell me $8 million isn’t just a tad greedy:

        http://priceonomics.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-book-your-favorite-band/

        • Felonious Punk

You know what would be fucking MONEY?

A –J– and Jimmy Intense super-argument on Alt Nation. I’d pay a nice grip to see that.

The undercard could be a handicap match of me and Corndog annihilating a rabid pack of doofus Cobain Murder conspirators.

          • Jimmy Intense

I’ll bet on that. Jimmy Intense for the knockout win!

          • Felonious Punk

I dunno, man…I’ve seen –J– leave ’em beaten and humiliated in a pool of their own piss before around here. Not saying that would happen to you or anything, but don’t underestimate the guy. He’s like a pit bull with a sore tooth when he’s on his game.

          • Jimmy Intense

Sounds fun, if for no one but us regulars

Whaddya say, –J– wanna fight or what? You and me at the monkey bars.

          • Felonious Punk

            –J– vs. Jimmy…now that’d be…intense.

          • Jimmy Intense

            *eyeroll*

  • Jiggle

I’m really glad you explained what 2 times 4 equals. Truly hard-hitting journalism here.

    • Corndog

I’m sure Rolling Stone still has room for one more douchebag if you don’t like what you read round here. By all means don’t let the door hit you on the way out…

      • http://Boom.com Boom

The Corndog. Boom always like the Corndog but in the lately you seem to be doing the changing before Booms eyes. No doing much of the comments the no more due to fact that this place foes the sucking of ass and cunt. Boom miss old Corndog, not the corporate fucker Boom see and read now. Sorry

        Boom out!!

        • Corndog

Well I’m sorry to hear that Boom, but I completely disagree. When I have something to say I post it, and if you look across the site you’ll find plenty of comments from me. Judging by infrequently you post these days perhaps you simply haven’t been around enough to see when and what I’ve posted?

As for ‘corporate fucker’, well that’s not very nice now is it? How exactly you arrived at that conclusion is beyond me. I’m just trying to keep the comments section a pleasant place for all to visit, and anyone who adds nothing by either being downright rude to other posters or ripping on the site and its owner will absolutely be challenged for it.

I think you’ll find that kind of the entire point of a moderator…

          • Rizz

nah, you’ve sold out. You used to have an edge.

          • Corndog

I’ve sold out? I had an edge?? Lol!

I actually work nearly 50 hours a week too. I am so ‘the man’…..

          • Jimmy Intense

Gee I hope Brett is paying you well to ‘sell out’

            Now THAT’S funny!

          • Corndog

It’s madness man. Although I think, or at least hope Rizz was only kidding…Boom on the other hand, I’m surprised at him. I’ve gone to bat for him and stood up for him on this site many times. So much for loyalty. My guess is he’s just pissed because I deleted one of his posts where he was doing nothing but going on and about how much of a cunt another poster was. It was totally unprovoked and unnecessary, so I deleted it. Exactly the sort of thing the moderator is supposed to to.

For the record, Brett doesn’t pay me. I wouldn’t expect him to.

          • Jimmy Intense

Can’t say I blame you for keeping things civil and/or on topic. Felonious and I got out of hand and were called on it. Boom has been on a tear lately and delivering cunt bombs for most/all (in true Boom fashion) so I wouldn’t take it personally.

For the record I was joking above and wouldn’t expect you to be paid for something you likely volunteered to do.

          • Corndog

I’m glad you get it man. There isn’t one other site I visit where folks would get away with saying half the shit that gets said around here. I don’t mind an argument, but as you say I just want folks to keep it civil. We all found this site out of a shared love of music so there’s really no need to tear strips off one another.

As far as Boom is concerned, I’m not going to take anything I read online personally. I’m just really surprised at him is all. He and I go way back on this site, like years back, and as I’ve said I’ve gone out of my way to speak up for him on many occasions. No one was more vocal in his defence during that whole Dave Brookes thing a few years back than I was. He would have been the last person I’d expect a knife in the back from. Clearly loyalty doesn’t mean as much to him as it does me. But you know, whatever. Least I know where I stand. I’m not going to lose any sleep over it:)

          • Jimmy Intense

Oh god, Dave “CAPS” Brookes…he was brutal. Just a dick, really

          • Corndog

He was an asshole to be sure. It was the constant and blatant racism coupled with the seeming inability to admit he’s said anything wrong that really got my goat. I went to town on that guy; and most of it in defence of Boom. You live and learn:)

          • Felonious Punk

            Talk about loyalty…

I’ve been offered six figure sums of cash to take my talents over to sites like Rolling Stone and the A.V. Club full time.

And every time, I tell those cunts to stick it. Because that’s what I do, in true punk fashion. Keep it loyal on the indies, yo!

          • Corndog

Something tells me neither of us would really fit in over at RS;)

          • Felonious Punk

I used to post in their comments section from time to time, but their moderators have no skin whatsoever and would just delete my comments. Really dumb shit, too. Like “I can’t see how anyone would give Montage of Heck one star, let alone four”….boom. Gone. God forbid I have an opinion over there.

Fuck those guys. I’m all about that indie cred now. You know my steez.

          • Corndog

See, now that shit right there is taking moderation to a ridiculous extreme. I’m light years (shameless Pearl Jam plug) away from that.

They seem to frown on grown ups using poopoo language too.

Moderation can be bizarre. Another site I frequent, not music related, will happily let you type ‘Fuck’ all you want, but I posted once where I used the word ‘dick’ and I mean I was actually talking about someone who’s name was Dick, and they removed my post. Can’t work my head around that one at all.

          • Felonious Punk

Because Rolling Stone is obviously the bastions of political correctness, right?

I can’t see how moderating a comment forum can be too hard. Just keep an eye out for anyone abusing the site’s privileges. But censoring people’s opinion? That’s pretty weak.

          • Felonious Punk

“My guess is he’s just pissed because I deleted one of his posts where he was doing nothing but going on and on about how much of a cunt another poster was.”

          • Corndog

            That’s kinda disturbing.

What is that actually from? I’d always intended to ask about your avatar but never got around to it.

          • Felonious Punk

Haha seriously? It’s a McGuffin from the second season of Breaking Bad.

Highly recommended you check that show out. One of the best shows ever made, period.

          • Corndog

Holy shit! Yeah I remember it now! Ended up in the pool, right? That was a great show.

Can’t believe I never put that together before. The closer I get to 40 the less my mind seems to function…

          • Felonious Punk

I just think it’s hilarious to have a pink bear with a goofy expression making smartass remarks about everything.

          • Jimmy Intense

Funny how pathetic some readers can be, insulting your avatar. I mean what kind of hipster hates on BrBa?

          • Felonious Punk

The kind who’s never watched BrBa?

          • Corndog

What did you think of Better Call Saul? I thought it was ok, but nowhere near as good as Breaking Bad. Just felt like it was missing something. Well, yeah. The rest of the cast from Breaking Bad…

          • Felonious Punk

I liked it. I think it will get better once the seasons go on.

          • dakotablue

I also was disappointed in Saul at first but gave it a few more chances–and whattya know, just like some music, it grew on me and now I think it’s pretty decent. Much better than most of the garbage out there for sure. But not quite up to BrBa and its outstanding ensemble, although McKean is great.

          • Rizz

            Lol. Just bustin balls

          • Corndog

            Yeah I figured as much:)

          • Felonious Punk

I can’t see why you even give this troll the time of day. This is the same guy who called me a cunt and told me to go fuck myself on Christmas day, and then got even more bitter when I wished him a happy holiday in return.

Funny…he didn’t seem to have a problem stringing together a coherent sentence then. I was actually happy for his improvement. A Christmas miracle! 😀

Dude’s a bitter, lost soul. Anyone who actually still takes the time to try and decipher his bullshit can see that. That’s why I don’t anymore. In with the good, out with the bad, I say.

          • Corndog

That may be the post which I deleted. Can’t recall.

I’ve personally never had any issues with him in the past which is why I’m surprised that suddenly out of the blue he has some issue with me.

          • Felonious Punk

            I’m not surprised.

And I wasn’t offended or anything close to it when he said that stuff on Christmas. If I remember correctly, I had a pretty good laugh about it. How sad of a mug do you have to be to insult people on the internet on Christmas day? Jesus himself was probably laughing at the guy.

          • http://Boom.com Boom

Boom make the apology to the Corndog. The Corndog be captain of team Boom and Boom is old asshole full of the anger. Boom much angry due to fact the Weiland dead and the Lemmy dead, Boom slip up again over holiday Christmas time and angry at own self.

Boom fucking hate most shit and burn all bridges. Boom be sorry and do the understanding if the Corndog no like Boom the no more.

To all others. Go fuck owns self.

To the Rizz. You be good and the Shane be good and the God be good. Others Boom no remember some be good maybe most go do the fuck off.

To the Flunky punk scum. You be cunt. Boom no like. You be alias.

            Boom out!!

Now go rock the fuck out to Motörhead

          • Corndog

            Apology accepted.

You and Felonious need to shake and make up kinda thing. He’s a nice guy. He’s quite amusing, he’s NOT an alias of a previous poster and I’m sure you’d like him if you just gave him a chance. I will totally vouch for him. Give the dude a chance. All I’m asking.

          • dakotablue

I’m much angry about the Weiland and the Lemmy, too, although one seemed preventable and the other inevitable.
            Or vice-versa.

      • Jiggle

But where else can I see photoshopped pictures of what Axl and Slash would look like onstage together today?

        • Corndog

Folks like you baffle me. If you don’t like the site then why visit it? No one is twisting your arm…

          • Felonious Punk

“I’m really glad you explained what 2 times 4 equals. Truly hard-hitting journalism here.”

I have to admit I lol’d pretty good at this.

But on the flipside, I don’t think people really understand the science behind this site. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s not Brett stating the obvious here. If it’s an Alt Nation exclusive, it claims it as such. Some of these headlines — especially the ridiculous Gn’R ones leading up to the reunion — are just good old-fashioned clickbait articles designed to stir up conversation and generate site traffic. Nothing wrong with that at all; it’s smart business. That’s what makes it so fun to comment. Obviously it works.

Like the Gn’R song says…anything goes.

          • Corndog

Oh absolutely, I agree. It’s just that there has been a massive influx recently of folks like this guy who say nothing at all other than how shit they think this place is and how much of an asshole Brett is. I think that’s just downright disrespectful. Sure, the site isn’t going to be for everyone, but how truly empty must someone’s life be that the only way they can apparently fill it is by continuing to frequent a site just so they can go on and on about how much they hate it? Maybe I’m missing something. I just don’t get it.

Edit- I respectfully disagree with your last statement. If Brett thought ‘anything goes’ then surely he would not have seen the need for moderation in the first place?

          • Felonious Punk

Doesn’t Brett make money every time they click an article or come back to check the comments though? At the very least, they’re helping to pay for the ad services. Who’s laughing last, I wonder?

Uh, that’d be Brett. So I’m sure he’s cool with it.

Plus, who doesn’t want to see some random poster show up and make a fool of themselves and get their ass handed to them by one or more of the regulars here? I’m pretty sure that’s the only reason that Jimmy Intense guy keeps coming back every day 😀

          • Corndog

Yes the irony of that is not lost on me. They seem oblivious to the fact that they are helping to perpetuate the very site they claim to hate.

I dunno man. Seems I can’t win either way. For me though, the bottom line is this; Brett asked me to moderate the site so that’s what I intend to continue to do until he tells me otherwise. I think I’ve been pretty fair with it. If someone is being unnecessarily rude or nasty they get a warning, and if they continue I will delete their post. If people have nothing to say but to bad mouth the site then I’ll call them out on that too.

          • Felonious Punk

You’re Brett’s Irish muscle! Doing it for pure enjoyment 😀

Nah man, you’ve made the transition from regular poster to moderator really well. You’re still one of the guys here. I don’t think you have to explain shit to anyone. Boom’s just looking for attention when he says shit like that, but the shock value has long since worn off, if there was ever even any to begin with.

          • Corndog

            Thanks man. Appreciate it:)

          • Jimmy Intense

You caught me. I’m all about dat ass

          • Jiggle

Truth be told, I find myself coming here because I love about 90% of the artists reported on. Sadly, I find said “reporting” to be lazy, corrosive and often half-hearted. I don’t believe the owner of this website cares about the music so much as he cares about the ad revenue his lazy, bottom of the barrel clickbait bullshit “articles” can pull in.

But hey, so long as we can keep gawking at the antics of walking disasters like Scott Weiland until they follow their career into an early grave, what’s the harm, right?

Every now and then, this website can produce a nugget or two worth reading. I loved the Brandon Boyd interview a few weeks back and really enjoyed the 311 retrospective even further back. But desperate clickbaity articles like this very one, which says absolutely nothing (let alone might not even be true) are just plain useless.

I realize I have an alternative (nation) but I personally don’t like to see artists that I respect and admire run into the ground and taken advantage of by antifans such as the owner of this site. Do better. Or don’t. Whatever.

          • Corndog

You clearly have never spoken to Brett because you’re totally wrong. He’s very passionate about the music covered on this site and was devastated by Weilands death.

You need to understand, Brett is a small independent. He doesn’t have the backing or money a site like Rolling Stone does so he absolutely must have the through traffic to help with ad revenue etc so that he can keep his site alive. The guy does what he has to do to keep the site going. Speaking as someone who has been visiting this place since well into its previous incarnation, I greatly appreciate the effort Brett puts in to maintain this place that I and others love.

Remember, the site is owned and maintained by a single person. If you don’t like it, there’s no need to be a dick about it. Coming here just to rip on the site or the owner is just downright disrespectful. Any reasonable person can see that, and I’m sure if you take a step back you will too. Guy tries his damn best. There’s no need to act like a 5 year old and try to piss in his cornflakes. If the content isn’t for you, then move along. If it is, then show a modicum of respect for the effort it takes to maintain this place.

        • ITURBIDE

truth is, I’m here only for the funny comments…and the “Dave Grohl farts on the Starbucks line” notes…

          • Corndog

I think the unique comments section is part of what attracted a lot of us to the site.

  • KLBMOM

The excitement over the reunion will be short lived if the band continues on this greedy path. How do they expect to tour if they are refusing to budge during negotiations with venues? I imagine that the ticket prices will be sky high too. G&R aren’t the relevant band that they were in the 80’s early 90’s. Give them all a slice of humble pie.

  • Anonymous501

I still think the demand to see the original (or close to original) GNR lineup will be huge. It’s one of those things that a lot of people have wanted to see for a long time. The people that are GNR fans have grown up (mostly) and have more money than they did in their youth. They’ll be able to shell out money for tickets (it’s going to pain me to do so, but I will).

I would expect GNR to make more than System of a Down. I think they could fill a lot more seats. I’m not sure they’re worth 6 million more. There was an article posted on this website a few months back that some US festival said they would pay 2 million for GNR to play. I thought that was kind of low considering the demand for tickets.

For me. The older I get the less I like going to festivals. Way too many people and I no longer have the urge to survive the dense sea of humanity to get any kind of view of the stage. I much rather prefer to see a band play their own show in arena where I get half decent tickets. Hopefully they do some arena shows.

  • Rizz

Lemmy would play for a bottle of Jack, 2 big tittie broads, and a bucket of coke. RIP you sonofabitch.

    • http://funisforassholes.com/ funisforassholes

When you think about it, there’s no solid guarantee Axl will even show up.. You can bet if he does it’ll be 6 hours late.

  • dakotablue

So they might squeeze out one or two new songs, huh? Don’t strain yourselves, guys. Or does this mean the creative GNR well has truly run dry? Yet they want $8 million to play the old hits for the old fans. Well hey, Axl needs a few mil himself to undo that horrible plastic surgery.

  • Jon G.

Who cares. Too little too late. Stay retired ahole!
