PEARL JAM GUITARIST STONE GOSSARD TALKS NEW SOUNDGARDEN ALBUM, CORNELL CANCELING MADE IN AMERICA PERFORMANCE

Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard was interviewed on WMMR this morning in Philadelphia, here’s a quote from the interview:

“I don’t know anything [about Chris Cornell’s Made in America festival cancellation), but any chance we get to play with Chris it’s certainly a great thing playing a Temple of the Dog song or something like that is such a joy.  He’s playing great these days too, I’ve heard the new- I don’t know if you’ve heard any tracks off the new Soundgarden record but it’s beautiful, it’s got some great great songs on it.  I think you guys will be really excited about that, there’s a lot to play on it.”

😀 You mere peasants may quiet down now. One of the Gods has spoken, and he has nothing but kind words regarding thy God of all Gods. Haha.

  • lol

    PHOTO AWESOME!!!! VERY GOOD 😀

  • thefreewheelinMarkArm

So cool that they all support one another’s music. I’m really disappointed at Chris’ decision to cancel, but we gotta keep Obama in the White House no matter what the cost (insert rolling eyes here).

I just wish Live Nation would give full refunds to the customers who bought tickets for a concert that was falsely advertised for 2 whole weeks.

  • thefreewheelinMarkArm

Also, I’d like to know why we heard from Chris’ management on the 28th if he pulled out on the 16th, and why we NEVER heard from BMIA festival management until after Cornell’s announcement. If anything, BMIA should have made the announcement and Chris should have never offered more than an apology and not a cancellation notice (that was still 2 weeks too late). To me the whole thing seems fishy. I think both parties were in cahoots to sell tickets and make money off of unsuspecting potential concert-goers. I would totally have Cornell’s back too, though, if he wasn’t standing us up for Obama.

  • Shadow on the Sun

@freewheelingmarkarm- yeah sure cornell colluded to help sell tix to a concert that he won’t perform or get paid for. Sounds perfectly logical. Like it needed help with the headliners it already had.

  • Junior

^Exactly what I was thinking Shadow. But it’s been long proven that logic doesn’t exist around here.

HOW ABOUT THIS FOR A CHANGE ? 🙂 HOPE AND CHANGE GET IT?? SOUNDGARDEN PUTS OUT A NEW GRUNGE ROCK ALBUM TOMARROW AND CHRIS CORNELL TURNS INTO A REPUBLICAN AND PLAYS AT THE GOP CONVENTION INSTEAD? 🙂 GIVE THE OTHER SIDE A FAIR CHANCE TOO CRAP CORNELL!!!

  • SuperSG

Who are some famous Republican musicians? And, Mayan, I dont think that Cornell is trying to only give Democrats “a chance”. What do you mean? A chance at what?

  • HurtFamily

I think Mayan should be banned from posting on the internet…especially our favorite sites 😉 Music is not republican or democrat….its freaking music people!!! This is America!!! Remember the reason why America was created for God’s sake!

  • Ben

What exactly does he mean by “there’s a lot to play on it.” ???

  • SuperSG

When I first read the article I thought that PJ would be playing some new SG songs before SG even released the names. Anywho, I bet that Chris woulda played a new, acoustic version of a yet to be named song off King Animal.

  • bigairdare

Budweiser in not American owned! So, doesn’t it seem weird that they are throwing this concert called “Made in America”? And why would PJ support this?

  • MAYAN CALENDAR 2012

SOME OF YOU SAY WHY DO I HATE ON CHRIS CORNELL LATELY? ITS BECAUSE THAT SON OF A BITCH HAS FORGETTEN WHAT HIS PURPOSE IN LIFE IS: TO BRING BACK A GREAT GRUNGE ROCK N ROLL BAND LIKE SOUNDGARDEN AND PLAY SOME FUCKING GOOD MUSIC. INSTEAD HES OUT THERE TROLLING AROUND FOR OBAMA AT SOME CAMPAIGN SHOWS , AS IF THATS GOING TO CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT POLITICS?? NO WAY IN HELL! JUST BECAUSE I LIKE SOUNDGARDEN ( OLD AND NEW ) IM NOT GOING TO LET SOME PRESIDENT WHO I DONT AGREE WITH , CONVINCE ME HIS BUDDY ( CHRIS CORNELL ) IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC IS SOMEHOW RIGHT. TO BE HONEST WITH YOU. A LONG TIME AGO, CHRIS CORNELL WAS PART OF THE ROCK THE VOTE CAMPAIGN BACK IN 1992 , AND AT THE TIME, HE WAS IMPARTIAL TO BOTH POLITICAL PARTYS, HE WAS NEITHER A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN AND BACK THEN, GRUNGE ROCK MUSIC MADE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUNG PEOPLES LIVES. SO WHY CANT WE RETURN TO THOSE GOOD OLD DAYS?? I WANNA HEAR THE OLD HARD ROCKING , GRUNGE BLASTING SOUNDGARDEN ( AND IF POSSIBLE , BRING BACK THE GOP OF 1992 AGAIN )

😉 BUT STOP WITH THE POLITICS OK??? SOUNDGARDEN COME BACK, OBAMA GET OUT OF CHRIS CORNELL’S BUSY SCHEDULE OK?? WHAT IF OBAMA LOSES TO MITT ROMNEY IN NOVEMBER 2012?? WILL THIS FINALLY CONVINCE CHRIS CORNELL TO GIVE UP HIS ROLE IN POLITICS AND FOCUS ON ROCK N ROLL MUSIC AGAIN?? GE REAL EVERYONE

AND I WONT QUIT POSTING ON HERE 🙂 SO YOU MIGHT AS WELLL ACCEPT ME
