MORE ON STONE TEMPLE PILOTS REFERENCES IN NEW PAUL RUDD FILM THIS IS 40

We reported recently that Stone Temple Pilots’ “Vasoline” is played in the new film This Is 40, starring Paul Rudd and directed/written by Judd Apatow. The song is played during a scene while Megan Fox is swimming in her bikini. Paul Rudd’s character Pete also owns a record label and in his office he has up a large framed photo of Dean DeLeo from STP’s iconic House of Blues show from the No. 4 era. There is also a large Purple promo poster up in his house. This isn’t the first STP reference in a Judd Apatow project, on his short lived FOX TV series Undeclared the songs “Down” and “Seven Caged Tigers” were played. Apatow said a few years ago, “I love to write to STP songs. It always gets my juices flowing. Then it makes me want to hit someone.” Apatow also wrote and directed The 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up.

Pearl Jam’s Golden Gate Park show poster is also displayed prominently in a scene in his house. It’s the one with the snake in the shape of a skateboard.

Funny flick, didn’t really go anywhere and ended where it began but still good.

Dave, mentioned Rooster in the initial story.

Cool, more movies should use 90’s music in them.
