More Members Confirmed For Guns N’ Roses Reunion

Richard Fortus, Dizzy Reed, and Chris Pitman are all now confirmed to be part of Guns N’ Roses’ 2016 lineup, joining Axl Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Frank Ferrer. This could end up being the complete lineup, unless a third guitarist joins or Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin appear as special guests. See the confirmation below, with Ferrer confirming Fortus through a retweet, a family member confirming Reed, and a Pitman confirming his involvement himself.

BILD is reporting the first Guns N’ Roses 2016 European concert date. According to their sources, Guns N’ Roses will perform in July at the Hockenheim Ring in Hockenheim, Germany.

As we have been reporting for months, the reunited Guns N’ Roses will be headlining the Coachella festival in Indio, CA in April 2016. Billboard confirmed our reports earlier today, also reporting that the band will play the new Las Vegas Arena, which is set to open in April. Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan so far are the only confirmed members.

Alternative Nation has learned that Guns N’ Roses will announce additional United States stadium tour dates in late January 2016. We previously reported on December 1st that around 25 dates were planned, and this still appears to be the case. A show at MetLife stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey (where the New York Jets and New York Giants play) is reportedly in the works.

Consequence of Sound
is reporting that Matt Sorum will be the drummer, but there have been many contradictory reports, with Frank Ferrer even hinting at his own involvement, and Steven Adler publicly lobbying for his job back just a couple of months ago.

I will heretofore refer to this incarnation of Guns as ‘Appetite For Democracy’

It’s a frontline of Axl, Slash and Duff, Dizzy in the middle, with CD-era fill-in players in the backfield.

  • yoda

ridiculous. they have this RIDICULOUS opportunity for an absolute “home run”, but no… what are the chances that ALL 5 of the original members would be alive today?? why are they going halfway when they have this ABSURD opportunity to do a full on DAMN HISTORICAL reunion?!? ughhh…

    • Felonious Punk

Because it’s doubtful any concert promotor is saying “we’ll give you 8 million a show for Slash and Duff, but 16 million if you can get Adler and Stradlin up there, too”

  • yoda

and sorry but screw dizzy, seriously, 6 people on stage is too many… nobody cares about that shit… and if they add a third guitar i’m going to shoot myself in the face… but i’m assuming slash would not be so into that BS, so they probably won’t… and seriously, they have 2 drummers to choose from (obviously adler would be best, but sorum would suffice), and they choose this gorilla ferrer that nobody give a 1/2 shit about?!? and WTF izzy?!? unless izzy is actually insane (more so than axl) i’m assuming he would like to make a few mil for a handful of reunion shows… ehhh???

    • Bruno Sílvio Martins

      Racial slamming… nice… (sarcasm)…

    • Jimmy Intense

Post on AltNation you should not!

      • yoda

        why not?

    • Felonious Punk

Axl can’t stand Sorum and Adler is a liability as far as a full touring cycle is concerned. Dizzy has been in the band — like, IN the band — since 1990. Izzy probably doesn’t want to deal with the same road bullshit that drove him away the first time in 1991. Ferrar, Pitman, Fortus and whoever else makes the cut are there because they’re on good terms with Axl and because Guns management, concert promoters and Axl himself know that Slash and Duff are the only two original members the majority of the Guns audience in 2016 really cares about at this point.

      • yoda

yea, i get all that, but it just seems so short sighted and fiddly niddly in comparison to the “big picture”… like the entire vibe in the air around the “reunion”, the articles, the press – all tainted by “partial reunion”, “3 original members”. the excitement factor and hype is huge with these sorts of things, and when the energy is muddied, it’s just not nearly as impactful as it could/should be. as for getting younger people excited, selling merch, etc… if it were the original 5 it would be the biggest “KABOOM” with the press and everything – and people would feed off that – but as it is now, it is exciting, yes, with an underlying “ehhh, butttt, ehh”… so anyway… it just seems like they are ignoring that whole aspect, in favor of fiddly/technical bullshit.

        • Felonious Punk

That’s just it though: they’re not doing it for the fans. Axl and Slash aren’t reuniting onstage because they miss playing together or because they care what the fans want to see. They’re doing it for the money, plain and simple.

That’s why Sorum, Stradlin and Adler are non-factors here. Even without them, fans who want to see “Axl and Slash” will pay exorbitant prices. Duff is just kind of like the cherry on top of the deal. If it was marketed as “Guns n’ Roses to tour in 2016 with original bass player Duff McKagen”, nobody would give a fuck.

This all comes down to Axl and Slash and their storied 20-year feud. It’s not about the fans or love for the music. It’s about how big of a profit they can make from this semi-reunion.

          • Chris Cornell’s Mustache

basically right. matt sorum is a giant knobhead who can fuck right off.

That’s awesome man, the more people involved in this who weren’t in the real Guns N’ Roses the better

  • Proud Pitbull Parent.

I absolutely love Richard, Frank and Chris for their talent and what they bring to the band and Dizzy ha been a member of GnR longer than anyone other than Axl, but please stop saying this is a reunion tour. This is Duff and Slash rejoin the band to play some shows. A reunion would consist of all 5 ORIGINAL members playing together. Super disappointed as far as a hopeful fan goes.

  • nomad

I feel like the GnR ship sailed long ago. Appetite for Destruction was a great record, but past that they became a cliche. I’m sure this reunion will be financially successful for them if Axl gets his shit together enough to show up, but I have no desire to see them now.

  • Rizz

As I have reported for months now……..this reunion is, meh…

  • Raj

This is a hybrid reunion, Axl doesn’t have or want Sorum or Adler but is using some of the newer guys mixed in with the old guys. Frank Ferrer is probably there because he just never left GNR like Buckethead, Bumblefoot, DJ Ashba, etc.

  • mike ratherson

Izzy! Izzy! Izzy! Ever consider that it’s Izzy’s decision to not rejoin GNR 2016? Re: Velvet Revolver on Wikipedia: “Stradlin ultimately declined to join due to his aversion to life on the road and his unwillingness to work with a lead singer.” Izzy’s former manager Alan Niven recently said: “Izzy will sit on the sidelines until he feels like he wants to get his toes in the water. He doesn’t like all the drama.” Izzy never liked the big GNR band format. Most likely Axl would rather bring core members from AFD and UYI, Slash and Duff, into the fold with musicians who already know the songs and that he gets along with. The original 5 will not get back together. Get over it.

    Not alternative.

  • frank

I for one think its bulls#%t. You have little more than half the original band, NOT EVEN the Illusions line up… yet these guys are gonna go out and bill themselves as a Guns “Reunion”? without a doubt, tickets are gonna be OUTRAGEOUSLY high… they’re gonna play STADIUMS ONLY, leaving people to drop their life savings on tickets to drive 6 or 8 hours and wait 2 to 4 hours PAST show time to see a SEMI-reunion. Crazy… either DO IT.. or DONT DO IT… Give us IZZY and STEVEN (who by the way is in GREAT shape and playing VERY WELL these days) or at the VERY LEAST Gilby and Matt Sorum. If NOT.. Call it something else… Axl Rose featuring Slash and Duff… or something.. whatever.. but dont bill it as a GUNS N ROSES REUNION… because its not.
