Guns N’ Roses & Alice In Chains Members To Release New EP

Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver bassist), Izzy Stradlin (Guns N’ Roses guitarist), Jerry Cantrell (Alice In Chains singer/guitarist), Roy Mayorga (Stone Sour drummer), and Taz Bentley (Izzy Stradlin drummer) will release a 3 song EP on May 12th to coincide with the release of Duff McKagan’s new book How To Be A Man (And Other Illusions).

McKagan has been busy with Walking Papers, a brief reunion with Guns N’ Roses, and working on unreleased Mad Season material in recent years. McKagan discussed unreleased Mad Season material in a 2013 interview with

“In some weird way, it’s all kind of the same thing. It’s the same collective group of guys, like Jeff Angell sang on a couple. So what happened was, Mike and I grew up together and we’re good pals, and Barrett and Mike are close. So sort of at the same time as the Walking Papers record, there were these other jams over at Mike’s house. Then we just kind of started jamming. It worked, the three of us clicked it was really kind of cool and different. We had all these things, we had songs.

We kind of just thought about getting different singers, Jaz sang on a couple, fucking epic. He’s one of my favorites on the planet. I met with him in London, it was one of those things, I almost didn’t want to meet my hero. I was really nervous. I was in London already, he was coming to this book reading I was doing. I started the book reading with the Killing Joke song ‘Requiem,’ just blaring through the PA. I knew Jaz was out in the audience, and I already started the thing with ‘Requiem.’ I was like wow what is he going to think, that I’m a fucking dork? But after the book reading we went to dinner with some other people and I just kind of flat out told him, ‘Jaz, I don’t know if I want to know too much about you man, because you’re heroic to me.’ The conversation we had just further heightened the mystique of that guy to me. He sang on a couple of things, and it’s fucking great. Jeff Angell sang on a couple, there’s no rush. As singers come up we’ll get them, hopefully Brandi Carlile will sing on a couple. We’ll just kind of take it as it comes, Corey Taylor perhaps.”
