Def Leppard Guitarist Says Guns N’ Roses Reunion Is ‘F**king Lame’

The new Guns N’ Roses reunion is far from “Paradise City” for Def Leppard. The titans of 80’s hair metal as The Telegraph reports that the group, at least guitarist Phil Collen is far from impressed over the news that Guns N’ Roses will be touring with their classic lineup for the first time in just under 25 years.

“We obviously think it’s really f****** lame. I love Guns N’ Roses, I think they’re really cool, I’d love to see Slash and Axl and Duff play together, that’s great. But I think it’s f****** lame considering we’ve been hardcore,” he snarls. “Our integrity’s still intact, we’ve never split up. We’ve gone through if someone had a little sniffle or something, we soldier on.”

Collen continued:

“Someone dies, someone loses an arm, someone gets cancer, we soldier on. [With Guns N’ Roses] if someone has a little barney backstage, they can’t deal with each other. I know it’s difficult, but I do think it’s pretty lame when you compare anyone else to us.”

Guns N’ Roses members Axl Rose, Slash, and Duff McKagan have released a statement mocking people like Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst, and Andrew Dice Clay for taking credit for their reunion.

“Guns N’ Roses would like to respectfully thank the many people taking credit for our upcoming shows and everything in between. Especially those whom we haven’t spoken to in numerous years who, through the power of media, have somehow served a pivotal, even if non-existent role. We, and the fans thank you! #GnFnR.”

“I know it’s difficult, but I do think it’s pretty lame when you compare anyone else to us.”

He’s right. No other band from the 80’s sucks more than Def Leppard, except maybe Motley Crue and the comparisons aren’t fair.

i agree that this g-n-r reunion is lame and 20 years too late. i also think having a one armed drummer who uses a drum machine is pathetically lame. you guys had your day, i saw the pyromania tour, but it ended with the drummer’s accident.

  • Jason Pritchard

I agree that all the hype of GNR’s reunion is lame. Maybe if they were to release a new album and it actually doesn’t suck, then I’d be more excited.

As far as Def Leppard goes, their drummer uses acoustic, digital and mixes of the two all the time. He’s a hell of a drummer. If you haven’t seen them lately then your opinions are moot. Even their newest, self released album rocked.

…def leppard is for chicks and complete trash from the embarrassing parts of the 80s

      • What123512

Axl Rose is one of those Soccer Moms and an embarrassing piece of trash from the 80s, how do you differentiate?

        • truthrevealer

Well firstly, no, axl rose is a male therefore he cannot be a soccer mom. Second, embarassing pieces of traash arent in one of the most famous rock bands of all time. (Def leppard isnt one of those)

          • dakotablue

            Have you seen Axl’s boobs?

          • truthrevealer

            Ive seen your mothers.

          • Jimmy Intense

You’ve got to be one of the more pathetic trolls that’s popped up as of late. Homophobic slurs and ‘your mom’ jokes won’t get you very far in life. The only truth you’ve revealed is how much of a fucking tool you are.

          • truthrevealer

Youre right, it wouldnt get me far in real life, which is why i use it on the internet instead to troll nerds like you

  • truthrevealer

No ones checking for you nor the now completely irrelevant band called Def Leppard Phil. GNR always has been and always will be better even in hiatus than your lame poppy chick band from the 80s

Def Leppard makes rock music for women. It’s why every damn song has the word “rock” in it and lacks any other kind of substance.

    • Felonious Punk

“Def Leppard makes rock music for women. ”

I mean, I can’t think of a better reason to make rock music, can you?

    • nomad

What do you mean by this comment?

  • God

When is Billy Corgan going to comment on this mess!?!?!

  • Bruce Morris

Id go see Def Leopard before I spent money to watch Axeless Rose not show up again.

    • truthrevealer

Lets be honest, unless ur a soccer mom or a fa*got, u really wouldnt.

      • Bruce Morris

lets be more honest FUCK YOU! here I am now what ya gonna do? nothing! sit down STFU

        • truthrevealer

Sir im going to have to ask you to put down the crack pipe.

  • http://www.cuntcertfy.nut/ Whip

Now, I’ve never heard this expression but from one other person, but I’d just like to say, for those who never have, that a “barney” is equivalent to a fart, toot, pass gas, cut the cheese, break wind, air biscuit, lay an egg, etc..

    • Corndog

Nope. UK saying. A barney is a fight; an argument.

      • http://www.cuntcertfy.nut/ Whip

Lol oh ok– well I know someone that would always use it as a meaning for fart haha.. that was in the US though

  • Doc Evil

The Forum Sol de Mexico has some of the best bootleg merch anywhere on the streets surrounding the Forum. Mugs, ashtrays, t-shirts, hats most of it from China, but some domestically produced. If you ever get the chance to see a band there, go early so you can do some merchandise shopping before the show.

  • Felonious Punk

Well! Def Leppard — the bastions of all that is righteous in rock — telling it like it is. That’s great to hear they’ve never split up; to be honest, I thought they ceased to exist decades ago. Does anyone outside of aging biker clubs and gravity-ravaged metal mamas even go see these guys when they come blazing into town anymore?

I mean…Def fuckin’ Leppard. Whooooo! They’re the FIRST thing I think of when it comes to what’s “hardcore”. And I bet my left nut if Guns came a’callin’ for the hardcore Leppard boys to open for them with Skid Row on their world tour, they’d be changing their tune big time.

  • dakotablue

    Cullen sounds pea-green with envy.
As Rodney would say, “we don’t get no respect!”

  • Pete

This is a great story about two alternative rock bands.

  • iLeonD

Technically Phil is not wrong. However you cannot underestimate the power of nostalgia. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

  • stephenvial23

I honestly thought this was a mock article a la The Onion. Collen really thinks that anything Def Leppard has done can compare to classic GNR? Put your shirt back on, guy.
