BILLY CORGAN SAYS THE MAJOR LABEL SYSTEM HAS MADE MUSIC UNEXCITING

Linda Laban has a new short interview up on Spinner.com with Billy Corgan. Here’s a quote:

“Something about the need for the major label system to corner the market has squeezed the excitement out of music,” he adds. “It’s almost like the restaurant where the prices are too high — you can’t enjoy your food. You feel like you’re getting ripped off, but you don’t know why. Fans overall have rebelled.”

You know I hear a lot about how evil the old major labels were & how things are so much better for artists now they can be more independent but I don’t see any greater amount of good music emerging nor any benefits to the fans paying for it.

Worked for capital records for 7 years. Could not agree with billy more with this one..and I don’t think its peoples illegal download habit. That’s the record companies crying about that I just think the artists lack of respect for the fans has hit an all time high.
