UPDATE ON SCOTT WEILAND’S UPCOMING SHOWS

A Scott Weiland San Diego solo date was recently listed on Ticketmaster and then later removed, which we reported. Someone associated with Weiland’s management team contacted me and told me that the date was never confirmed in the first place, and was an “in the air” date so it must have been miscommunication between Weiland’s people and Ticketmaster. So everybody needs to get off the ‘oh Scott canceled another show’ train.

SCOTT WEILAND’S GUITARIST DOUG GREAN TRASHES GRUNGEREPORT.NET

Scott Weiland’s guitarist/producer Doug Grean (@douggrean on Twitter) tweeted the following last night: “Hey Grunge Report guy. Fuck you!!”

Grean also attacked GrungeReport.net on his Facebook page, “Hey grunge report guy, you’re a dick!”

GrungeReport.net owner Brett Buchanan could not be reached for comment, Brett’s mother answered the phone and said he is inconsolable and has locked himself in his room listening to The Most Wonderful Time of the Year on repeat. Professional wrestler Scott Steiner did have the following to say regarding the situation.

SMASHING PUMPKINS MAY BEGIN WORK ON NEXT ALBUM IN AUGUST

From BeatWeek‘s new interview with Billy Corgan:

So will he resume the one-off song releases, or will the remainder of the Teargarden era come in the form of complete albums? “I’m kind of mulling that around. There’s a lot of demos that are really fairly quality at least in terms of the songs. They’re just interesting, dusky sketches. The problem with the world we live in now is everything is judged so fast so hard and is given too much power, for lack of a better word. Three months from now I would love to just reach in and toss out a couple of those demos from 2009 so people could hear some different songs, maybe some things that helped lead to Oceania. But then invariably some asshole with a blog is going to write about the new Smashing Pumpkins song and how it sucks. I’m mature enough now that I don’t really care, but at this point we’re in a positive place and maybe we just need to play a positive game. Maybe we just need to be like everybody else and shine it up real nice and bright before we put it out. We definitely want to do another album. We’re already talking about starting to do some demos in August. It’s tough. I do want to put out some of this stuff that I’m sitting on. I do want to finish the project as I sort of originally sketched out. But right now we’re riding a wave and I’m not really sure where that wave takes us.”

BILLY CORGAN SAYS HE HAD TO BE A CONTROL FREAK IN SMASHING PUMPKINS BECAUSE EX-BANDMATES WERE DRUG ADDICTS

On accusations of being a control freak, “Some of that came from being in a band with drug addicts back in the day. So you’re control freaking over drug addicts, you do the math. I mean you have to kind of figure out when they’re not on drugs to get them in the studio. The band now, everyone is so great, such lovely people, they really care about the Smashing Pumpkins and the future of the Smashing Pumpkins, and even on top of that the legacy of the Smashing Pumpkins and they respect the old band and what the old band accomplished.”

The interviewer then says Billy isn’t crazy like people think, BillCo responds, “No I’m crazy, I mean don’t jump the gun on that. The kind of crazy I am isn’t the kind of crazy people think I am.”
