The Smashing Pumpkins will play at HP Pavilion in San Jose on Friday December 10th for LIVE 105′s Not So Silent Night 2010. Also playing will be…[barfs] My Chemical Romance.
That weekend (December 11th-12th) will be the two night KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas in Los Angeles, and the Pumpkins are strongly rumored to play Night 1. My Chemical Romance are also unfortunately rumored to perform. The festival takes place at the Gibson Amphitheater, where 2 years ago Jimmy Chamberlin played his final show with the Smashing Pumpkins.
Billy Corgan posted the following on Twitter yesterday. I’m not quite sure if he was trying to mock Grunge/Chris Cornell’s cover of Billie Jean, I even twittered him asking him. With Billy you never know if he was complimenting or trashing Cornell’s performance since he is sarcastic a lot on Twitter, hopefully he clears it up.
Complaining is the great inherent right of a musician
The Smashing Pumpkins will be headlining the Wrex The Halls fest in San Diego on Dec 12th 2010. Other bands include My Chemical Romance and Jimmy Eat World. Jimmy Eat World will also be opening for the Pumpkins when they play Houston on December 5th.
They will also be playing in Albuquerque, NM.
Check out smashingpumpkins.com for more dates and details.
On Rockline last night Billy Corgan finally revealed the reason that he fired original Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin last year.
Billy said that he has always been the one to choose the direction of the band, even if others disagreed. He said that he and Jimmy had a disagreement about the future of the band. He said that the disagreement had been long standing, and Billy said it was nothing he was going to fight over. He said “not all band members live in reality” but he lives in today’s music world reality. He said he’s determined to move the Smashing Pumpkins forward with new music. He also said he doesn’t want to be an oldies band taking money to pay his bills, he wants to be an artist to be an artist. He said Jimmy wanted to shut things down and make things simpler, and become an oldies act.

Dead & Bloated
according to the setlist.
It was a really good show. Best I’ve seen in the Bay area from STP. [Indiana 08, and Kansas City Mo 10 are still my top shows]
The crowd was kind of tame. While that can be nice, its nice to feel more enthusiasm.
Scott looks very healthy, and happy.
The DeLeo’s were killin it, as was Eric. Everyone seemed to be having a real great time.
Will post photos soon, and video as soon as i get it.
Robert is one of the nicest people anyone could ever meet. Such a sweetheart. So polite and courteous. Dean will be mine in another life.

Placebo was a good call for a band name. The band that has no effect. Happy Halloween from The Pumpkin King. O.G.
On Saturday Billy Corgan also tweeted on the rally liberal political comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert held in Washington DC. Also I’d like to note that Corgan talked about his dislike of President Bush a few years ago so his political affiliation is unclear:
Corporate Comedians still end up serving those masters who have put us where we are, in a delusional state of blissful denial. Chuckle away

Scott Weiland– Most Wonderful Time of Year Release Date: November 23, 2010
No tracklisting is available yet for this album, but Amazon.com says the following about the STP frontman’s third solo release: Multi-platinum recording artist Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots) has been a staple in Rock music for over a decade, now Scott is doing something new in an old school fashion. Scott is carrying on the tradition of the likes of David Bowie and Neil Diamond and releasing traditional Christmas songs performing them in their traditional form.
