FOO FIGHTERS DOCUMENTARY FILM COMING SOON?

This is from Dave Grohl’s interview with Q Magazine:

“In my hotel room in Perth, Australia on a Them Crooked Vultures tour, it all came to me,” Grohl said about working on a new Foo record. “I was sitting writing a new song and I thought, ‘OK, we should make a documentary about the recording of this new album and make it a history of the band too. Rather than just record the album in the most expensive studio with the most state-of-the-art equipment, what if Butch and I were to get back together after 20 years and dust off the tape machines and put them in my garage?’ I literally backed the minivan out of the garage, pulled the lawnmower out, put a drum set in it and set up mics. We soundproofed the garage door so that my neighbors wouldn’t call the cops.”

BILLY CORGAN LAUNCHES OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE, TALKS SOUTH AMERICAN TOUR

It’s finally happened, Billy Corgan has launched an official Facebook page. Billy has made several posts already and people are allowed to comment on his posts, but you can’t leave your own comment on his wall.  Below are some of Billy’s first Facebook posts.

hello everyone. yes, finally got a fb page. longer posts than twitter can now now found here. hipsters and snarks beware 😉

pt 1: the last time i had been that far south in the Americas was with Zwanin 2003, and although i had enjoyed it, there wasn’t a lot of energy waiting down there for us on that tour. The 1998 tour i was seriously
ill and honestly don’t remember much of it, but the fact that it was during the Adore era meant that the show… didn’t have the common SP Rawk power behind it.

pt 2: That leaves only the few scant SP shows in 1996 as any indication of what a motivated hot-blooded crowd can do when mixed positively with the dynamics of the up and down, loud and soft and spacey. So i went into this tour with high hopes, and a real sense of purpose because i know how long fans from that part of the w…orld had asked and even begged me to bring this incarnation back around.

pt 3: Let me say first the fans in all 5 cities (buenos aires, sao paulo, santiago, lima, and bogota) were fantastic. It took us a few days to find our groove, with all the flying and off days in between every show. The tour ended stronger than it began. I’d like to come back down no later …than 2 years from now. So thank you again fans from this last tour that came! I hope it was worth the wait for all of us. love,BC

SOUNDGARDEN NOW SELLING SUPER DELUXE EDITION OF TELEPHANTASM FOR 85 DOLLARS

On Facebook Soundgarden are now selling the Super Deluxe Edition of their second greatest hits album Telephantasm for $84.99 as a “Holiday Sale,” rather than the $109.99 they’re charging in their official store.  It also comes with a vinyl of the bonus instrumental track “The Telephantasm.”  The Super Deluxe edition of Telephantasm was originally supposed to be limited to 5000, so either they are going over 5000 or they haven’t sold 5000 super deluxe edition copies.

DAVE GROHL TALKS ABOUT REUNION OF SURVIVING NIRVANA MEMBERS

Credit: home.nzcity.co.nz and Q Magazine

Dave Grohl compares working with Butch Vig again to “f***ing a girlfriend you had 20 years ago.”

The Foo Fighters frontman is making a record with the producer for the first time since he was the drummer in Nirvana and Butch recorded the band’s defining ‘Nevermind’ album, but said he was at first apprehensive whether it would work out.

He told Q magazine: “Going back to make an album with a producer you’ve worked with before is not unlike f***ing a girlfriend you had 20 years ago.

“It can either be really good or a total f***ing disaster. But it was perfectly natural and totally comfortable and he’s the same person he was 20 years ago. He wears cologne now, I think that’s the only difference.”

The seventh Foo Fighters album will also feature former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic on bass and accordion for one song, ‘I Should Have Known’, and Dave told how it was emotional to be reunited with the other surviving member of the group, which ended in 1994 when frontman Kurt Cobain killed himself.

Dave said: “When I see Krist, I hug him to celebrate our lives, but I also hug him to console him, y’know. When you see each other you’re immediately connected by the good things and the bad things.

“The song ‘I Should Have Known’ I thought would sound great with his bass-playing and accordion-playing. It’s probably the darkest song on the album.”

Foo Fighters new album will be released in spring next year.

POLL: DO YOU THINK SOUNDGARDEN HAVE BEEN ACTIVE ENOUGH SINCE REUNITING?

NOTE FROM BRETT: Somebody totally rigged this poll and voted for Yes over and over. On Saturday our site isn’t even close to that amount of visitors by the afternoon, especially since it is by far our lowest day of traffic for the week. I’m going to try and work on a way to limit voting to one IP per voter for the next time I do a poll so we can get accurate results.

Do you think Soundgarden have been active enough since reuniting?
Yes
No

Soundgarden have played 4 shows this year since reuniting, one of which was properly advertised with advance notice. Do you think Soundgarden have been active enough in 2010?

RICHARD PATRICK COMMENTS ON THE BREAKUP OF STP/FILTER SUPERGROUP ARMY OF ANYONE

Read the full interview at OregonMusicNews.com

You have Filter up and running again and you have a new album The Trouble With Angels. We’ll get to that in a minute. A couple of years ago you put together a band called Army of Anyone with Robert and Dean DeLeo and drummer Ray Luzier. Why is that band not active today?

We put that band together and we put a lot of time an energy in it. When it came we looked at each other and said “alright then that was that.” We got busy with the bread and butter of our careers; Ray went on to join Korn, the DeLeo brother reconnected with Scott Weiland and got Stone Temple Pilots together and I got Filter active again.

Army of Anyone was a really great experience, it really was. In my opinion it might have taken too long…you have to realize it was four years of our lives. In retrospect I think had we gotten in the studio and knocked it out quickly it might have taken off. Instead it became this laborious project that was released and we tour behind for eight weeks and that was it. In the end Filter is my musical legacy and I’m glad to be back
